Princess Diana wanted her marriage to Prince Charles to be intact if she had her way.

The People's Princess and Prince of Wales' marriage didn't work out. However, according to Princess Diana's friend, it wasn't what she wanted in the first place.

"She wasn’t the one who wanted to separate or have a divorce, it was sprung upon her," Princess Diana's trainer Jenni Rivett told Yahoo UK (via Daily Star). "At the end of the day it was [Charles and Diana’s] call, but I can tell you right now it wasn’t what she wanted."

"She wanted to be the Princess of Wales, she wanted to be the Queen of people’s hearts, she wanted to be a good mother, which she was, and a good wife," she added.

For Rivett, Princess Diana still loved her ex-husband and would have done everything to make things work. "Given the choice, she would have stayed and tried to make a happy marriage," she continued.

Princess Diana revealed that their marriage was not easy as there were three of them. She also confessed that Camilla broke her heart several times.

According to Prince William and Prince Harry's mom, Camilla called when Prince Charles was about to leave for his five-week royal tour months before their wedding. She chose to be nice and left the two talking on the phone.

"You may recall seeing a picture of me sobbing in a red coat when he went off on his aeroplane," Princess Diana said. "That had nothing to do with him going. The most awful thing had happened before he went. I was in his study talking to him about his trip. The telephone rang, it was Camilla."

Camilla also ruined their honeymoon by sending a gift to Prince Charles. The latter insisted that nothing was wrong as it was a present from a friend. However, Princess Diana didn't agree.

"And boy, did we have a row. Jealousy, total jealousy. And it was such a good idea the two 'C's but it wasn't that clever," she admitted.

Princess Diana also admitted that Prince Harry's birth triggered their rocky marriage. According to her, she was hurt when Prince Charles exclaimed "Oh God, it's a boy" because he wanted a girl.

Princess Diana knew all along that they were having another boy as she saw the scan. But she didn't tell Prince Charles because he has a gender preference for their second baby.
