Hulu will be raising the prices for its on-demand subscription plans by $1.00 each, the company announced on Tuesday.

According to a report by TechCrunch, the company’s most popular plan, an ad-supported branch that costs $5.99 a month, will go up in price to $6.99 a month beginning on Oct. 8. Similarly, the ad-free version that currently costs $11.99 a month will begin to cost $12.99. The change does not affect the bundle package which provides users access to Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+, which will still cost $14.00.

Hulu, which was originally recognized for being one of the more affordable on-demand platforms, is now getting some angry reactions from subscribers, who took to Twitter to vent their frustrations over the change.

The change followed hikes on both the individual Disney+ and ESPN+ platforms as well. All three platforms are under the Disney umbrella after the company acquired Hulu in 2019 by buying Comcast’s stake. The reason for increasing the individual services’ prices is not immediately clear, though it has been noted that the bundle package could become more attractive to subscribers as a result.

However, Deadline reports that one other reason for the increase is Disney’s decision to add thousands of Bollywood and Hotstar originals to the platform, as well as Indian Premier League cricket shifting to ESPN+.

The move also comes after the company raised prices on its Live services in 2020. That bundle went up to $64.99 a month in December 2020
