“Independence Day” doesn’t just mean a holiday and a hit movie franchise to Jeff Goldblum anymore. It’s his son’s birthday.

The actor took to Facebook on Tuesday night to tell his fans the good news. He posted a picture of himself and his wife, contortionist and aerialist Emilie Livingston, with their newborn son. The irony of his son’s birthday wasn’t exactly lost on him. “We're so excited to share the wonderful news of the birth of our son, Charlie Ocean Goldblum, born on the 4th of July. Independence Day,” he wrote.

Livingston, 32, and Goldblum, 62, are still newlyweds. The couple, who met in 2011, were married in November, People reports. This is the first child for both. Goldblum, who is currently filming “Independence Day 2,” announced that he and Livingston were expecting on “The Late Show with David Letterman” in January.

“She told me the day before we got married that she was pregnant,” the new father revealed. “It’s a boy.”

He claimed that they had decided to name their son Elliot Charlie, but Letterman advised dropping Elliot. It seems they took the now retired host’s advice.

The new parents received congratulatory messages from Goldblum's “Independence Day 2” co-workers. Producer Dean Devlin loved that Charlie was born on the Fourth of July while director Roland Emmerich also shared an emotional response.

Before Goldblum’s son was born, he excited fans by posting the first teaser for the “Independence Day” sequel, titled “Independence Day: Resurgence.” Goldblum will reprise his role as protagonist David Levinson in the film and will have to defend the world from aliens once again. The video shows a city with the text, “We're fighting for our right to live, to exist.” Watch the teaser for the action movie below:

“Independence Day: Resurgence” is currently filming and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 24, 2016.
