Microsoft issued an alert to all Windows 10 users to install the emergency security patch to save their devices from the memory corruption vulnerability.

In a statement released on Monday, Microsoft urged all Windows 10 users to immediately install the emergency security patch to avoid the memory corruption vulnerability.

How Powerful Is The Memory Corruption Vulnerability

The attacker could penetrate by luring the user to click into an email link or to visit a malicious web page. Once it finds its way in, attackers are able to run malicious codes on the affected devices.

The Memory Corruption Vulnerability Status and Severity

Microsoft confirmed that the vulnerability is currently in an active status as it has just been under active exploitation. Upon successful exploitation of the vulnerability, the whole system of the Windows 10 user’s device could be taken control by an attacker or by cyber-thieves.

If the user is logged on with administrative user rights, the control of the attacker or the cyber thieves could be worse. The attacker could not just corrupt data, it can also install programs, view restricted files, change important details, and use full user rights in creating new accounts.

Who Will Be Affected by the Memory Corruption Vulnerability

Although almost 8 percent of the Microsoft customers are using the Internet Explorer, browsers versions 9, 10 and 11 are affected. Windows Server Versions, Windows 7, Windows 8. 1 and Windows 10 are affected by the vulnerability as well.

How To Install The Emergency Security Patch

Typically, Microsoft releases patches for its vulnerability or bug threats during its monthly update. They do it during the Patch Tuesday which is held every second week of the month. However, the urgency of the memory corruption vulnerability threat this time pushed the software giant to launch an emergency security patch ahead of its regular schedule.

The Microsoft emergency security patch can be downloaded through the Windows Update. Along with the security patch, Microsoft also issued the Windows Defender Malware scanner patch to its denial of service condition bug.

This is Not the First Warning From Microsoft About Vulnerabilities

Last month, due to the presence of multiple vulnerabilities, Microsoft urged Windows 10 users to update to their operating system to avoid bug exploits.
