Just a week after releasing its sixth beta, Apple has released the iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 beta 7 for developers and added more features and innovations for testing purposes.

Apple seeded the seventh update on what reports described as the biggest update to the iOS 14. Since its first beta release, iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 continued to receive updates and improvements to get developers ready before the public launch, MacRumors reported.

On top of the list of iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 innovations is the significant feature “Unlock with Apple Watch” that allows owners to unlock their iPhones with their face masks on. The feature allows iPhone holders to access their devices using an unlocked and authenticated Apple Watch.

The update brings in worldwide support for the 5G dual sim on iPhone 12, a feature limited to LTE in the past. When available in an area, users may take advantage of 5G coverage even when both the dual sim cards are active.

Emojis received added features such as new skin tone mixes and beards for gender options. Apple also introduced a set of new characters to the team such as heart on fire, face exhaling, mending heart, face in clouds and more that now make up a total of 217 emojis

Siri also received new companions along with the iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 giving iPhone users four smart assistant voice options to choose from. Siri now comes in the US English language with two male voices and an added female voice. The smart assistant can now receive instructions on which app should run as default, according to The Forbes.

Apple Music added a feature that allows iPhone holders to add songs on the queue by simply swiping right and left. Long press on real-time lyrics allows sharing them over social media.

Apple News now has a dedicated tab in the News app while shortcut apps can enable and disable orientation lock, change cellular mode and take screenshots.

For the battery-saving feature, iOS will automatically recalibrate the battery life algorithm to compensate for power once it detects that the device is performing at a suboptimal level, MacWorld reported.

Users now have the option to disallow companies like Facebook from collecting their activity data with the App Tracking Transparency Feature.
