KEY POINTS

  • Apple is expected to unveil its upcoming iPhone 12 lineup soon
  • A leaker revealed possible storage allocations for each model
  • The new details from Frontpage Tech's Jon Prosser confirm earlier leaks from another known tipster

Rumors about Apple's upcoming iPhone 12 series handsets abound as the Cupertino tech giant has yet to officially unveiled them. Now, a new leak coming from prominent leaker Jon Prosser reveals the possible storage configurations of each iPhone 12 model.

Frontpage Tech's Prosser, who has a 72.7% accuracy when it comes to leaks and rumors per AppleTrack, reported that Apple will be shipping its first iPhone 12 units to distributors on Oct. 5, well ahead of the alleged Oct. 13 announcement date. The shipment includes the 5.4-inch model known as the iPhone 12 mini and the lower-end 6.1-inch phone iPhone 12.

The leaker said Apple will “definitely” use “iPhone 12 mini” as the “final marketing name” for the smallest model in the lineup. This device, which will have a body believed to be the size of the original iPhone SE, will come in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage configurations.

Prosser added that the larger but lower-end 6.1-inch model that will simply be called the iPhone 12 will also come in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage configurations.

He also said in another tweet that the iPhone 12 Pro models – the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max – will start at 128GB.

Not contradicting but merely clarifying

Those who have been following the leaks and rumors might've noticed that Prosser's current leak seems to contradict his earlier claims about the storage configurations, where he said all models will start at 128GB.

The leaker explained that the earlier claims were based on information “well before even the [product validation test] iPhone 12 units had started” and added that the “final units of iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 are DEFINITELY 64/128/256.”

It's worth noting that with his current leak, Prosser now seems to confirm an earlier leak from L0vetodream, a mysterious leaker with 88.7% accuracy in terms of predictions and leaks, as per AppleTrack. The leaker claimed in May that the non-Pro iPhone 12 models might start at 64GB, while the Pro models might start at 128GB.

While the similarities between the two largely accurate leakers' claims might indicate that the non-Pro iPhone 12 models will start at 64GB of storage, fans are still advised to wait for Apple to officially reveal details. It's always best to wait for official details to be released.
