The new iPad's rumor era is finally over and the next big thing in the Apple rumor mill is the upcoming iPhone dubbed iPhone 5. Leaked reports are fueling the rumor mill with new gossips. The third generation iPad also tells us a lot about the new iPhone. And, if the latest rumors and leaks are to believed, iPhone 5 is going to be an Android killer.

When we think about the iPhone 5 (or iPhone 4G or new iPhone or whatever you call it), the first feature that comes to mind is 4G LTE connectivity. 4G LE connectivity is a guaranteed feature in the new iPhone, now that Apple has packed the new iPad with it. The next thing that comes to mind is the quad-core A6 processor chip. The A5X dual-core chip with quad-core graphics that is running the new iPad will not show up on iPhone 5 because it was especially designed for the tablet. The quad-core A6 chip is expected to clock at around 1.2 to 1.5 GHz.

Reports about ultrasonic bonding in iPhone 5 are also surfacing online, suggesting that Apple's new toy is going to be tougher and rigid.

The new iPhone is also expected to run on iOS v6.0. With iOS 6.0, we can also expect an improved Siri - the much-hyped iPhone 4S app.

iPhone 5 will also be possibly packed with a larger Retina display. According to latest rumors, Apple will equip the upcoming flagship model with a 4.6-inch Retina display with trueHD resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels. Inclusion of Corning Gorilla Glass 2 is also likely. The device could be a beast in such dimension, perfect for multimedia and gaming. There are only a few Android phones that offer a bigger screen than 4.6-inch. Galaxy Note is the biggest Android phablet with a 5.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen, but it is too big to fit in pockets easily.

The NFC technology is also expected to feature among iPhone 5's specs, with Apple winning the iWallet patent.

Apple has also reportedly requested network providers to make smaller SIM cards than the microSIM standard. The new smaller SIM card will allow Apple to make thinner devices. iPhone 5 will possibly be thinner than its predecessors.

These new features will make the upcoming iPhone powerful enough to crush the rising competition from Android rivals. Apple always believes in high quality products and setting new benchmarks and the next iPhone could set a new benchmark in the smartphone industry.
