James McAvoy has come forward to help all the medical representatives who have been working tirelessly to treat people who have tested positive for COVID-19. There have been numerous reports that doctors and nurses have been working continuously for 4-5 days without getting a chance to go home and see their families.

The British actor confirmed the news on Instagram by uploading a video that he has donated more than $300,000 to a campaign called “#MasksforNHSHeroes,” which is raising money to provide the essential “personal protective equipment” to the medical staff of the National Health Service (NHS).

The video starts by McAvoy telling people of all the stories that have been making rounds about the shortage of all the important equipment that doctors and nurses need to take care of themselves while treating COVID-19 patients. The “Split” star further stated the medical staff is forced to buy “their own” equipment from the internet and most of them are not “good enough.”

The actor also shared that the situation is quite worse than anyone could have imagined and people need to come forward to help the saviors.

“We have all heard stories about doctors and nurses having to buy their own personal protective equipment from the internet or DIY stores, and the products aren't good enough, and frankly neither is that situation ,” McAvoy said.

The esteemed star also explained that using such faulty equipment can be dangerous for the doctors and everyone else.

“This situation is truly urgent, and time is of the essence, but there is a worldwide shortage of PPE,” McAvoy said.

Later in the video, McAvoy talks about the “Masks For Heroes” campaign and encouraged his fans to donate money as they are gathering “verified equipment” from “international sellers.” The “X Men: Apocalypse” star also noted that the money will help in saving a lot of lives.

''So what have Masks For Heroes done? They have found a way to get more personal protective equipment to the NHS frontline staff using international sellers selling verified CE and EN verified equipment. Now that's important because that's the good stuff, it's the stuff the actually works,” McAvoy said.

He also explained that the campaign is trying to provide all the important equipment to the medical staff within a “week.” McAvoy concluded the video by urging his fans to donate as much as possible so that the doctors and nurses can get all the important stuff.

Another British celebrity who is helping the NHS is none other than the captain of the England Women's Cricket Team, Heather Knight. The 29-year-old cricketer has signed up as NHS volunteer to help the people affected by the virus.
