The family expressed gratitude toward all the people who have been sending a lot of good wishes since the news surfaced online. The message was concluded by saying that the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner loves everyone who is praying for his good health.

“This is hard news for us to share. But so many of you have loved and supported John over the years, we wanted to let you know, and give you the chance to send on more of that love and support now. And know that we love you, and John loves you,” the message read.

The news comes a week after a media outlet reported that Prine’s wife, Fiona Whelan Price, was also diagnosed with the deadly illness.
