John Wayne Gacy Jr., who was convicted of sexually assaulting and murdering at least 33 young men and teenage boys in the 1970s, had apparently tried to get his case seen by a new lawyer.

On Wednesday, Reddit user "Shipyaad" submitted a photo of an aged, wornletter, allegedly written from Gacy to Luis Kutner, a famous lawyer and activist from Chicago who co-founded Amnesty International.

The Reddit user who discovered the letter, "Shipyaad," says he moved into a new house in San Francisco and found the letter "wedged in between a couple of boards in a wall downstairs." He later found out the house was previously owned by Kutner's son.

"Finding this thing was creepy as f**k," Shipyaad wrote. "The letter was stashed in between a couple of wall panels, like someone was trying to hide it. Nothing else seems to be out of the ordinary, though I'm kind of wondering if I should start digging around in my backyard looking for bodies."

Various redditors on the thread believe the letter from John Wayne Gacy, Jr., is in fact authentic, and some users have appraised the letter at $4,000.

According to the timeline of Gacy's life, the letter must have been written during his 14 years on death row, but it was likely closer to 1980 or 1981, considering how he wrote about how he didn't believe he would "get justice in the Illinois courts, because of public pressure and mass publicity that surrounds my case."

"I was railroaded to where I am now on death row, not only by incompetent counsel, but by constitutional law, judicial misconduct, and prosecutors misconduct, along with procedural errors as well," Gacy wrote.

It was known that Gacy had filed "voluminous motions and appeals" during his time on death row, but this letter in particular had never been known about until Wednesday.

Gacy was executed in 1994. Here's the full text transcript of Gacy's letter to Kutner:

Dear Mr. Kutner,

I have recently read about you in the newspapers, and wondered if you might be interested in working on my case, at a point of Post Conviction. I have enclosed a clipping on my appeal, and while I feel I have good issues, id on't feel I will get justice in the Illinois courts, because of public pressure and mass publicity that surround[s] my case.

The state appellate defender is handling my appeal at this point, but may not be when I get to Post-Conviction. I was railroaded to where I am now on death row, not only by incompetent counsel, but by constitutional law, judicial misconduct, and prosecutor's misconduct, along with procedural errors as well.

Since [you're] as famous as I am infamous, and the years you have behind you, I was wonder[ing] if you would handle a mass murderer who is not one, but can't seem to get anyone to look at the facts of the mass publicity, fantasy, and state theories. And now in the courts with [political] pressure.

If [you're] interested, I would like to hear from you one way or another, and maybe be able to fill you in on more of the facts so that you would see what I have to work with. I am told that if you would put all the facts in my case in a computer along with all the Illinois law, my case would be thrown out, as there is no evidence to tie it all together. I have been made into a media monster, through mass publicity, and the facts seem to just go right out the door.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

John Wayne Gacy
