KEY POINTS

  • Johnny Depp performed "Isolation" and other hits with 77-year-old Beck
  • The outing comes amid his ongoing defamation trial with ex-wife Amber Heard
  • A court decision is expected to come out as early as Tuesday

Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance at Jeff Beck’s concert in Sheffield, England, on Sunday. Multiple videos of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star singing various hits with Beck made the rounds online Sunday night.

The duo performed their 2020 collaboration “Isolation,” a remake of the song originally released by John Lennon in 1970. They also performed “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gray and “Little Wing” by Jimi Hendrix. Other clips showed fans erupting with joy as they saw Depp enter the stage with his newly dyed hair, as per Deadline.

Beck, 77, is currently in the U.K. for his concert tour. With Depp making a surprise appearance in the Sheffield show, speculations are rife that he might also join Beck on the next two legs of his concert series, which will be held at London’s Royal Albert Hall on May 30 and 31.

Despite being best known for his acting, Depp is not new in the music scene. Before he started his career in film, he was a musician adept at playing the guitar. In 2015, he formed and became a member of the band Hollywood Vampires alongside Joe Perry and Alice Cooper.

Earlier this month, the 58-year-old actor testified about his early musical aspirations on the stand, saying as he was not having much success in music, he turned to a career in acting.

Depp’s recent outing comes as he takes a break from his high-profile court case against Amber Heard. The actor has been in attendance at the district court in Fairfax, Virginia, since April 11 for his defamation trial with ex-wife Amber Heard, which went to the jury deliberation Friday.

The trial came after Depp sued Heard for defamation for $50 million in damages, and the “Aquaman” actress countersued for double that amount. A decision is expected to come out Tuesday.

In 2018, Depp filed a defamation suit against his ex-wife in response to an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post painting her as a victim of domestic violence. While she did not mention him in her article, it implied that Depp was the one who perpetrated domestic violence against her.

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star denied ever being abusive to Heard.
