Production of “Jurassic World: Dominion” was halted on Wednesday after crew members tested positive for the coronavirus.

The latest installment of the “Jurassic World” franchise was being filmed at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom. Production has now been suspended for two weeks after tests for coronavirus came back positive on Tuesday.

“Woke up to the news we had a few positive Coronavirus tests on Jurassic World: Dominion,” director Colin Trevorrow tweeted on Wednesday. “All tested negative shortly after, but due to our safety protocols we’re going to pause for two weeks. Back soon.”

A spokesperson for Universal Pictures said those who initially tested positive are now in self-isolation.

“The safety and well-being of our entire cast and crew is paramount,” the spokesperson said, Associated Press reported. “Those who initially tested positive are currently self-isolating, as are those who they have come into contact with.”

On Tuesday, Universal also announced that the release of “Jurassic World: Dominion” has been pushed back from June 11, 2021, to June 10, 2022.

“For the past three months, I've worked with an extraordinary cast and crew on a film we can't wait to share with the world,” Trevorrow tweeted. “Even though we'll have to wait a bit longer, it will all be worth it. Let's stay healthy and take care of each other until then.”

“Jurassic World: Dominion” stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. It will feature the return of several familiar faces, such as Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum).

The three original heroes will have sizeable roles in the upcoming movie, Collider reported.

Newcomers include Mamoudou Athie, DeWanda Wise and Dichen Lachman. Collider also reported that actor Campbell Scott has joined the cast of the new film and will play Lewis Dodgson from the original “Jurassic Park” movie.

Plot details are scarce, but the previous installment saw a dinosaur auction going wrong, resulting in the creatures being unleashed into the open by a clone played by Isabella Sermon. Mankind is forced to live with dinosaurs, and the consequences of this could be explored in “Jurassic World: Dominion.”
