WINNER's Kang Seung-yoon will miss a few of his group's activities while recovering from an ankle injury he sustained during a recent concert.

The boy band's music label, YG Entertainment, released a statement Tuesday and to share that the 28-year-old singer was injured at the "Holiday in the City" event held in Seoul's Han River Park Sunday.

The music label said the K-pop idol was taken to the hospital right after the show that was reportedly attended by some 20,000 fans who trooped to the venue to see the reunion of the beloved group after a two-year hiatus.

"As a result of the examination, they confirmed that it was an ankle ligament injury, and although there was no difficulty in daily life, the doctor diagnosed the need for stability for the time being. As a result, WINNER will be taking a break from this week's music shows that requires performance," YG Entertainment said in the statement, as per Koreaboo.

"However, Kang has a strong will to keep his promise to the fans, so we have decided to proceed wit [sic] some schedules with minimal movement," the music label continued.

Consequently, Kang's recovery will determine whether he will join the group in future appearances during music shows.

The label then appealed for understanding from the group's fandom, known as WINNER's Inner Circle, and emphasized that the health and safety of its artists remain its top priorities.

Sunday's free concert was part of the promotional activities for WINNER's reunion album, "HOLIDAY," which is also the group's first musical project since renewing its contract with the music label in 2021. The album topped the iTunes Worldwide Album chart in 18 countries upon its release on July 5.

Group leader Kang spoke up about the contract renewal, noting that the decision was based on the members' good working relationship. "The biggest reason for our contract renewal was that all four members could be together. Our synergy with the staff was good as we have been working together with them for more than 10 years since we were trainees," he explained at a previous conference.

Comprised of Hoony, Mino, Yoon and Jinu, WINNER debuted in 2014. The boy band is known for upbeat songs such as "Really Really," "Love Me, Love Me" and "Island."
