The Kansas City Chiefs (9-1) and Los Angeles Rams (9-1) meet on Monday night in among the most anticipated matchups of the season. The two high-scoring teams are expected to put up plenty of points in a closely contested game, according to oddsmakers.

Los Angeles is currently a 3.5-point favorite over Kansas City, a big shift after some oddsmakers had them as only 1 to 2.5-point favorites last week. Odds moved more in the Rams' favor after the game was moved from Mexico City to L.A. because of safety concerns.

The two teams are relatively healthy entering the matchup though both may be without top receivers. The Chiefs could be without wide receiver Sammy Watkins, while the Rams lost receiver Cooper Kupp for the season with a torn ACL.

There will still be plenty of star power in the game. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is considered an MVP favorite, while Rams running back Todd Gurley and quarterback Jared Goff are also contenders.

Only the New Orleans Saints average more points per game than the Rams and Chiefs. Additionally, both teams have higher scoring averages than any team in the 2017 regular season.

Kansas City is 29th in total defense this year but the unit has tightened up a bit in the past few games. The Rams have the 15th best defense and boast some big names. Defensive linemen Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh, as well as former Chiefs star cornerback Marcus Peters, lead an experienced group.

Subpar defense on the road was at least partially responsible for both teams’ lone losses this season. The Chiefs posted 40 in their loss at New England, while the Rams scored 35 in their loss at New Orleans.

Prediction: There might be a bit more defense than some expect but this should still be a high-scoring affair. The Rams will likely give Gurley more than his average of 19.8 carries a game to control the clock against a porous Chiefs run defense. The Chiefs will find ways to keep pace and stay in the game but it probably won't be enough.
