Kate Middleton borrowed another piece from the Queen's vault.

On Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stepped out together for a glam date. They attended the Tusk Conservation Awards 2018.

For the event, Middleton recycled the Jenny Packham gown that she first wore during the London 2012 Olympic celebrations at the Royal Albert Hall. However, the royal mom of three, who is popular in rewearing and switching her outfits, paired it with earrings from Queen Elizabeth II's collection.

According to Emily Hodgkin, a journalist for Express, Middleton wore diamond chandelier earrings. The gems are part of the monarch's collection, but those were originally given to the Queen Mother. The earrings feature an enormous pear shape diamonds supported by thin strands of diamonds.

Her Majesty and the Queen Mother have never been seen wearing it in public. However, the Duchess of Cambridge has been seen wearing it. She first used the accessory in public on July 9, 2011, in Los Angeles.

In related news, Meghan Markle doesn't loan the Queen's jewel. Unlike Middleton, the Duchess of Sussex has never been seen wearing an item from the Queen's vault except for the tiara she wore on her big day.

According to experts, the two duchesses have different tastes in jewelry. Middleton is into classic brands and "royal traditional styling" which explains why she's fond of borrowing the Queen's jewelry.

"For Kate's style she keeps it simple but tends to go a bit more classic with her jewellery, think diamond earrings and pearl necklaces," Lauren Teff, a London-based stylist said about Middleton.

"With statement pieces often borrowed from the Royal collection, Kate loves to wear sets that match as well as adding in coloured stones that make a statement," Charlotte Balbier of All the Pretty added.

On the other hand, Teff noted that Markle opts for "quite simple but stylish and contemporary with a classic twist" accessories. She also added that the pregnant royal is into supporting smaller designers that make an ethical impact.

Charlotte has a similar opinion about Markle. According to her, Prince Harry's wife prefers delicate and small pieces. "Petite bangles and small earrings are Meghan’s signature look. Less is more for this new mum-to-be."
