Kate Middleton is banned from running marathons.

The Duchess of Cambridge is one of the more sporty members of the royal family. In fact, she's a patron of lawn tennis and has been seen playing this sport with her children. She also loves running. Unfortunately, she's prohibited from joining any public race.

According to Bryony Gordon, Middleton's friend, the duchess is not allowed to run marathons. Gordon confessed that she asked Middleton about the matter.

"Oh no, security and all that," Middleton told her (via Daily Express).

The author of "Eat, Drink, Run" still encouraged the royal mom of three to try it. "If I can do the marathon, you can," she said.

Just like Middleton, her sister Pippa is athletic but is able to participate in marathons and has even completed the Great Wall marathon in China.

Middleton has also revealed that there was a time when she was banned from Wimbledon. In 2013, the Duchess of Cambridge was heavily pregnant and wanted to watch the finals, so she begged her doctor to allow her. Unfortunately, his reply had been, "definitely not."

Andy Murray beat Novac Djokovic and Middleton sent the winner a letter. "I was very heavily pregnant. I wrote to him [Murray] afterwards saying sorry for not being there," Middleton revealed.

Middleton is a self-confessed tennis fan. In fact, prior to marrying Prince William, she spent hours lining up just to get a ticket for the tournament. She considered the event special and wanted to be part of it.

"Being able to go into Wimbledon and be part of an amazing atmosphere is special," Middleton said. "It inspires young people including myself. Every time Wimbledon is on I am thinking 'Yes, I could do the same' and get out the racket. Sadly, not the same results."

Middleton is still on maternity leave and is expected to return to her royal duties in October. According to Prince William, his wife was upset that she couldn't accompany him on his trip to Israel.

Prince William and Middleton have already scheduled Prince Louis' christening. The event will be held on July 9 at The Chapel Royal, St. James's Palace, London.
