Kate Middleton was involved in an embarrassing situation during a night out over a decade ago.

In 2008, the Duchess of Cambridge helped organize the '80s-themed Day-Glo Midnight Roller Disco for a charity. During the event, Middleton was fully committed to the theme and arrived in luminous yellow hotpants, pink leg warmers, black boots and a green sequinned top.

During the event, Middleton showed off her skating routine but slipped. The duchess wasn’t injured in the so-called “embarrassing heap.” Her friends were photographed helping her back to her feet seconds after she fell down on the floor.

Middleton was still seen smiling after the accident. The partygoers aimed to raise money for a charity set up in memory of Middleton’s schoolfriend, Tom Waley-Cohen, who died from bone cancer in 2004 at 20. Tom’s brother, Sam, praised Middleton for her efforts in the event.

“She has been brilliant, using all of her contacts to make things happen and make sure we don’t make any mistake,” Sam said.

“We wanted to do something fresh and new, something that would be fun and a bit tongue-in-cheek, reflecting the lighter side of life – very much like Thomas was himself,” he added.

According to previous reports, Queen Elizabeth II wasn’t happy about Middleton’s lifestyle when she was still dating Prince William. Her Majesty was reportedly concerned about Middleton, who had no full-time job and was always partying at the time.

Middleton previously lived in a lavish London neighborhood in Chelsea with her sister, Pippa Middleton. She was also always vacationing in Mustique, to the point that the press dubbed her “Queen of Mustique.” As a result, Queen Elizabeth II reportedly encouraged Middleton to get involved in charities.

Middleton was reportedly “very hurt” over the Queen’s criticism about her lifestyle. However, she was advised to “hold her tongue” because it’s a bad idea to talk back to her future grandmother-in-law.

Queen Elizabeth II and Middleton’s relationship has since improved. In fact, according to Ashley Pearson, the monarch is “very fond” of Middleton’s “middle-class values.” Her Majesty also loves the fact that Middleton is very close to her family. In addition, the Queen appreciates that Middleton never tried to garner extra attention for herself.
