Kate Middleton paid tribute to Princess Diana during her trip to Dundee by wearing bespoke jewelry.

While in Scotland on Tuesday, the Duchess of Cambridge was photographed in a pair of sapphire and diamond drop earrings from Princess Diana’s collection. Middleton paired her earrings with a recycled Black Watch tartan coat dress.

Middleton has worn the same jewelry on several occasions since she tied the knot with Prince William in April 2011. When she was still alive, the Princess of Wales also sported the same pair of earrings as both double drop earrings and as studs.

Prince William’s mom was photographed in the stunning jewelry when she traveled to Japan in 1986 for a royal engagement. She was once again seen with the pair of earrings when she flew to New York in 1995 for a royal tour. Princess Diana’s jewelry collection was passed on to her two sons. Prince William and Prince Harry have given and lent some pieces to their respective wives.

The Duke of Sussex inherited his mom’s aquamarine ring, and Meghan Markle was photographed wearing it during their evening wedding reception. Markle was also spotted wearing a gold bangle from Princess Diana’s collection two weeks ago.

Deborah Pagas, a gemologist for Prestige Pawnbrokers of Channel 4’s “Posh Pawn,” told Express that the flexible torque bangle has a spiral flat appearance in 18-carat yellow gold with a cabochon deep blue sapphire at each end that gives the jewelry a smooth finish.

“Smartly coupled each side with a row of pave set small diamonds set in white gold. This comfortable piece of jewelry, once owned by Diana, Princess of Wales, is estimated to be worth between £3,000 ($3,9000) and £4,000 ($5,200),” she said.

Prince William proposed to his wife with famous hand-me-down jewelry from Princess Diana. The Duke of Cambridge gave Middleton an 18-carat sapphire and diamond ring. According to the future King, the jewelry was so special to him that’s why he decided to give it to his wife.

“It’s my way to make sure my mother did not miss out on today,” he said.
