Kate Middleton and Prince William have practically flown under the radar in terms of causing controversy. That may not last for long though as the two plan to intentionally break royal protocol when it comes to their upcoming trip to Pakistan.

Keeping with tradition, Express explained that "Queen Elizabeth II, her children, grandchildren, and even her great-grandchildren, are required to follow a strict set of royal traditions and codes of conduct regarding their behavior, etiquette, and dress."

Those royal traditions and codes include travel.

"The Queen and Prince Philip regularly traveled to parts of the Commonwealth on official tours, state visit and other ceremonial tasks as part of their duties. This meant the Queen and Philip were often forced to leave their children for long periods of time," the British publication revealed.

Kate and William won't be keeping up the status quo, though. In fact, they will follow in the footsteps of the late Princess Diana and break protocol but in a slightly different manner. While Diana insisted on traveling with her children, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are reportedly insisting that the time away from their children -- Prince George, 6, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 1 -- be limited.

If and when the 37-year-olds visit Pakistan on a royal tour, they will likely not spend longer than one week away. The dates have yet to be announced.
