Kate Middleton and Prince William continued one Christmas tradition of the British royal family after Queen Elizabeth II changed her holiday plans for this year.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were photographed taking their kids — Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3 — to St. Mary Magdalene Church on the Queen's Sandringham estate Saturday, People reported.

The members of the royal family usually reunite at the 95-year-old monarch's estate in Norfolk, England, for the holiday season and walk together to the local church on Christmas Day, with crowds often gathering to catch a glimpse of them.

After the Queen decided to stay in Windsor Castle for the holidays this year amid the surge in COVID-19 cases in the U.K., Prince William and Middleton celebrated Christmas with their three children and members of her family at the Cambridges' country home in Norfolk, Anmer Hall, according to the outlet.

In photos obtained by People, the Duke of Cambridge was behind the wheel as the family of five left the church service and made their way home. Prince William was dressed in a shirt, jacket and tie for the service, while his wife wore a plaid jacket and a feathered hat.

The couple's children, with Princess Charlotte sitting between her brothers, were photographed peering out the window from the backseat.

Earlier that day, Prince William and Duchess Kate posted on social media a personal message for frontline medical workers as well as those who are spending the holidays away from their families.

"This Christmas will be different to what so many of us had planned. From those who are alone or having to isolate away from loved ones, to the incredible people supporting our NHS and caring for those most in need — we are thinking of you," the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote in a statement shared on Instagram and Twitter.

The Saturday outing marked Prince Louis' first Christmas church service. His older siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte made their Christmas Day debut in 2019 when they joined their parents for the royal family's traditional Christmas walk to church.

At the time, the mother and daughter collected flowers and presents from the crowds who gathered to watch the royal family, and Middleton had a conversation with a woman named Karen Anvil and her daughter Rachel.

"Kate was talking to my daughter about clothes and how she was feeling too hot. She said: 'I really shouldn't have worn this,'" Anvil said of Middleton, who sported a custom double-breasted gray Catherine Walker coat at the time.

Meanwhile, the Queen spent Christmas at Windsor Castle, where she was joined by Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, People reported.

Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla attended the morning church service at St. George's Chapel along with Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
