Prince George is becoming more confident as he gets older.

On Wednesday, Prince William and Kate Middleton's eldest child turned 7 years old. A source told Us Weekly that the future king has become more confident. In fact, he is now the protector of his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

"George has come out of his shell and is a confident little boy – although Charlotte is the most self-assured at of the three," the source said.

"He’s kind natured and thoughtful and looks out for his brother and sister."

The insider also shared that the third in line to the throne has developed a "competitive streak." He even wants to be the "best at everything."

"Kate and William joke that he ‘likes to be the best at everything," the source added.

Back in June, Middleton shared a funny story about her two sons when she visited the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices facilities in Norfolk. The Duchess of Cambridge said her kids love planting and each of them has their own sunflower. However, the planting activity seemed to have sown a few seeds of dispute and competition between the two boys.

“The children are really enjoying growing their sunflowers,” Middleton was qouted as saying by People. “Louis' is winning, so George is a little grumpy about that!”

Last December, Prince George and Princess Charlotte joined the royal family traditional Christmas walkabout for the first time. According to British radio presenter Libby Purves, the Cambridges' only daughter, Princess Charlotte, was "ruling the roost."

“Charlotte may have an elder brother but I think we can be in no doubt that for now she rules the roost between gentle, quiet George and baby Louis, perhaps in the style of Great-Aunt Anne or her more sociable and rebellious late Great-Great-Aunt Margaret,” Purves wrote .

“Right now, she rules: and if and when she does kick over the traces, she'll have worked out that a well-timed curtsey gets most things forgiven,” Purves added.

Queen Elizabeth II also said back in 2018 that Princess Charlotte ruled over her big brother. The little princess also showed her dominance over Prince George during a family outing when Prince William asked her to help Prince George and she said, "No." During the same outing, Princess Charlotte also yelled at her big brother saying, “George! Quicker, George.”

Apparently, Prince George is slowly taking the lead. It isn't surprising especially that he is set to be the next king after their dad, Prince William.
