Kate Middleton was recently criticized after she uploaded a photo on Kensington Palace’s Instagram account featuring Meghan Markle.

On Sunday, the Duchess of Cambridge greeted the “Suits” alum on her 38th birthday. But instead of sharing a solo photo of the Duchess of Sussex, the mom of three opted to upload a group picture featuring herself, Prince William, Prince Charles, and Prince Harry.

“Wait… and why doesn’t she have a picture of her alone? It’s ‘HER’ birthday, right?” one critic commented on the post. “Why a picture of the whole Royal Family? It’s not about Kate or William or Charles!” another person wrote.

One critic also accused the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge of not being classy.

“It was better to choose a picture of herself alone. That they chose an image where Duchess Meghan isn’t centered though the post is dedicated to her birthday speaks volumes as to the Cambridges’ lack of class,” the critic commented.

But earlier this week, Prince William and Middleton were also praised for their social media greeting for Markle. In fact, one royal fan also said that they were so classy because they wrote a personalized greeting for Prince Harry’s wife.

It is also important to note that Middleton is not literally the one who posts photos on the Kensington Palace Instagram account. Prince William isn’t also tasked of sharing photos and comments on the same platform. Rather, it is their staff.

Middleton and Markle’s fans have been divided ever since they were pitted against each other. Royal commentator Omid Scobie told BuzzFeed News that the Duchess of Sussex has been the subject of tons of criticisms, which was something that Middleton didn’t necessarily experience years ago.

“Since day one, we’ve seen Meghan criticized for things that other royals have been celebrated for,” he said.

Most recently, Markle was criticized for guest-editing a piece for British Vogue’s September issue. But when Middleton guest-edited for one publication years ago, she was praised for it.
