Prince George landed his first acting role in school.

On Wednesday, Prince William and Kate Middleton visited the children at BBC's Bridge House in Salford, England. During the visit, the Duke of Cambridge gushed over their eldest child, Prince George, who recently participated in his school play. "I went to my boy's nativity play," Prince William said (via Us Weekly) during the visit. "It was funny. He was a sheep."

Prince George is currently attending Thomas's Battersea in London. Prince William and Middleton were supposed to escort the tot on his first day of school on Sept. 7, but the Duchess of Cambridge was suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum or severe morning sickness at the time, so she was not able to accompany her son and husband.

Despite Middleton's absence, Prince George made some great new memories on his first day of school with his dad. The father and son even posed for the toddler's first day of school portrait, and they looked adorable. In the photo, Prince George is all smiles while holding Prince William's hand.

Prince William and Middleton's choice of school for Prince George came as a surprise to some who expected the royal couple to enroll their son in Wetherby, an exclusive prep school in Notting Hill that Prince William and Prince Harry attended. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, however, believe that co-ed is best for their kids, so they chose to enroll Prince George in Thomas's Battersea instead.

"Their Royal Highnesses are delighted to have found a school where they are confident George will have a happy and successful start to his education," Kensington Palace announced in a statement.

Meanwhile, the school principals of Prince George's current school were delighted to welcome him. "This is clearly a significant moment for their family and most certainly for Thomas's," they said in a statement. "Like so many parents, the Duke and Duchess have put a great deal of thought into the choice of their eldest child's first 'big school.'"

Thomas's Battersea is "a busy, thriving, purposeful school, educating 560 boys and girls between the ages of four and 13." The school also encourage children to be kind and teach them core values, including courtesy, confidence, humility and generosity.
