Are Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom headed for a split because of an imbalance in their celebrity status? This is what a new tabloid report claims. The singer’s popularity is reportedly creating a conflict between her and the actor.

Celebrity tabloid magazine Star recently published a story claiming that there’s trouble in paradise for Katy and Orlando and it’s all because of the disparity in their fame and wealth. The tabloid also made it seem that the Hollywood couple is on the verge of calling off their engagement.

A supposed source told the magazine that the difference in Perry and Bloom’s earning powers “is a recipe for disaster.” The tabloid then pointed out that while the “Lord of the Rings” actor is worth around $40 million, the “Roar” hitmaker has earned a whopping $330 million fortune.

“Orlando wants to grow his career, but Katy’s the one whose star just keeps rising,” the unnamed source said. “It’s a strange situation for him to be in, watching her get bigger and bigger when he could use another major movie role.”

The magazine’s source also claimed that Orlando’s friends are worried for him because of the imbalance in the celebrity status between the actor and the singer-songwriter. His friends allegedly warned him to not rush their wedding and make their engagement last for as long as possible just so he could decide if tying the knot is what’s best for them.

Gossip Cop has since debunked the tabloid’s story and the claims made by its source. According to the fact-checking website, the report does not make sense at all because the difference between Perry and Bloom’s fame and finances haven’t been an issue for the couple ever since they started dating.

When the outlet reached out to a source close to the couple, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, assured that Katy and Orlando are not at all on the verge of breaking up. The source also slammed Star’s report and called it “fabricated.”

This isn’t the first time that the magazine was called out for publishing a baseless story involving Perry and Bloom. Last week, the tabloid was also called out for claiming that the celebrity couple’s relationship is doomed because of the actor’s excessive “partying.”

A reliable insider dismissed the report at the time, saying that it is completely “false.” Another source even told People that the pair are currently “busy enjoying and celebrating their engagement.”
