James Hetfield of Metallica did not appreciate having his band’s image photoshopped as the background of reality stars Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and he personally thinks their fashion sense in this regard is way off.

The Jenner sisters got a lot of flak after they tried selling vintage t-shirts, which showed their images emblazoned on top of rock band images. Due to the uproar caused by their shirts, the girls decided to pull these off the market and issue an apology.

Weeks have already passed since the incident, but the issue still has not died down. Hetfield recently gave his two cents about the sisters and their stunt during a chat with ET Canada. “I guess what they were thinking is, ‘We can do whatever we want.’ To me, it's disrespectful. We’ve spent 36 years working hard, doing our best to keep a really close connection with people, make every note count, and someone just throws something up over something that we feel… Not that it’s sacred or anything, but show some respect,” he said.

Aside from Metallica, the girls also used the images of rapper Tupac Shakur, Notorious B.I.G. and Ozzy Osbourne for their vintage shirts, which were being sold for $125 each. Michael Miller, the commercial photographer who took the photo of the late rapper Tupac Shakur, is even suing them for using his image without permission.

However, the Jenner sisters seem confident about their use of the photo since they obtained it from a company that had a valid license to sell them, according to the Associated Press. The siblings also released a statement through the website of their fashion line, Kendall + Kylie, saying that the lawsuit has nothing to stand on. “The allegations made are completely false and the lawsuit is baseless,” the statement said. “There has been no infringement or violation of anyone’s rights.”

As of now, the girls are busy promoting their new swimsuit line, which they say were inspired by the style of their mom, Kris Jenner. “We were inspired by old school ‘80s bathing suits like my mom used to wear,” Kylie told Vogue about the collection. “My mom has the most amazing ‘70s and ‘80s swim collection. I’ve worn some lately, so we were really inspired by that sexy sport vibe.”
