Kevin Gates just released new music, but the rapper won’t be able to celebrate the success of the songs as he’ll now have to remain in jail for a longer time.

Currently being held in the Kendall County Jail in Chicago on felony weapons charges, the “2 Phones” rapper was denied bond during a hearing Wednesday at the Bridgeview Courthouse in Illinois, TMZ reports.

After serving 180 days in the Polk County Jail in Florida for a battery charge, the rapper was arrested on an outstanding warrant as he was being processed out of the jail. It’s uncertain why Gates’ bail was denied this time or when his next hearing will be.

Following his short release after his first jail stay, the rapper’s wife, Dreka, took to Instagram to ask for support and slammed the media. “To everyone that’s rooting for Kevin right now, thank you, but please shift your thoughts, prayers, energy, etc. towards the idea of Kevin being home and enjoying life as a free man,” she wrote.

“Do not dwell on the things that have been put out by the media. Their only goal in anything is to grab/seek attention, not necessarily to release information that is factual,” she continued. Dreka has yet to comment on the rapper’s latest setback.

Gates’ six-month sentence in Florida came after the rapper was found guilty of misdemeanor battery following a 2015 incident that involved him kicking a female fan in the chest during a concert. The rapper hired high-profile attorney, Jose Baez, to represent him. Baez claimed the victim was using the case to gain more damages for a civil trial in the future.

The hip-hop artist fought for his innocence, claiming he used the “necessary force” to protect himself from the fan who was grabbing at him, but the jury didn’t agree.
