Kevin Hart announced the death of his father, Henry Witherspoon, through an emotional post shared on his Instagram page Thursday. Witherspoon was 73 years old.

"RIP to one of the realest & rawest to ever do it...Love you dad," Hart wrote, along with a series of photos showing him bonding with his late father and other family members over the years.

"Gone but never forgotten....Give mom a hug for me," Hart added. "Y'all did good man. Thank you for everything."

The 43-year-old comedian and father of four also praised his beloved dad and said he became a "better father" to his children because of Witherspoon. "I'm a better father because of you. We will all make you proud...."

The "Jumanji" star's post garnered over a million likes from friends and fans who expressed sympathy for the grieving actor.

Martin Lawrence wrote, "My deepest condolences and prayers to you and your family for your loss. Much love brotha."

Comedian Hasan Minhaj said, "Blessings bro. Love to you and the fam."

"Damn Kev sorry bro prayers up," Carlos "Haha" Davis said, while Chelsea Handler wrote, "Oh, sorry, Kev. He wouldn't have left you before he knew you were good."

Rapper Ludacris simply dropped crown and dove emojis on the comment box, while Marlon Wayans commented, "So sorry Kev. Love you. Keep making them proud brother."

In his appearance on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" in 2017, Hart revealed he patched things up with his father after several years of being in conflict with him.

"My kids thinks I'm dope and that's what makes me happy. My kids actually think I'm the coolest dad on the planet ... I know why I am the way that I am, my dad has a lot to do with that -- the mistakes that my dad made, you know, the decisions to do drugs, being in and out of jail, in and out of our lives," he told Colbert. "I saw firsthand what not being present did and because of that, I now know what being present means. I know what that can do, I know what effect it can have on your child coming up."
