Kim Kardashian is the epitome of commitment. The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" alum reportedly lost 16 pounds in just three weeks to rock her look for the 2022 Met Gala.

At the event Monday, Kardashian stunned the crowd in the same bedazzled dress Marilyn Monroe wore while she sang “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy on May 19, 1962, despite speculation that she might not fit into it, according to Page Six.

There was a lot of prep happening in the weeks leading up to the star-studded event, with Kardashian making multiple trips to Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museums to figure out how to slip into the dress. There was also a lot of security detailing assigned to the iconic dress.

But Kardashian, who also bleached her hair platinum blond and wore a white fur shrug, simply rocked the entire look but revealed that carrying it off was no easy feat.

In conversation with Vogue, the 41-year-old spoke about how she thought of wearing the original dress for the Met Gala. “The idea really came to me after the gala in September last year. I thought to myself, what would I have done for the American theme if it had not been the Balenciaga look? What’s the most American thing you can think of? And that’s Marilyn Monroe.”

Kardashian then spoke about what she did to lose weight in a short period, because she had two options; one was to lose weight and the other was to find a different dress altogether. “It was this or nothing,” she told the magazine.

The KKW Beauty founder explained that she “would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein. I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict.” So, about a month later, when she was inside Ripley’s vaults for her final fitting, the dress slipped on perfectly, and she confessed, “I wanted to cry tears of joy when it went up.”

But, the real tears of joy will flow when she finally gets out of the dress and digs into an extra-large pizza at the end of the night, she shared.

However, given the importance of the dress, Kardashian only wore the original one for a matter of minutes before slipping into a replica of the dress, also provided by the museum.

Monroe reportedly paid Jean-Louis $1,440 for the custom piece she wore just three months before her death. It was first sold at an auction in 1999 for over a million dollars as part of a sale of her estate with Christie’s. It was then sold for a whopping $4.8 million at Julien’s Auctions in 2016.

The dress was later acquired by Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum. To this day, it holds the record for being the most expensive dress sold at auction.
