KEY POINTS

  • Real Madrid cruised through their matchup against Mallorca with a 2-0 victory
  • Vinicius Junior and Ferland Mendy were key players for Zinedine Zidane in the recent win
  • Real Madrid is currently on top of the La Liga team standings

The La Liga season is back and Real Madrid has been in top form, as they remain undefeated ever since the games resumed. The team has been performing well as they picked up another victory with a 2-0 win over Mallorca.

For Zinedine Zidane’s club, it was the duo of Vinicius Junior and Ferland Mendy that did a lot of the damage. The combination of the two was positioned well on the pitch and delivered for Zidane throughout the match. Per The Real Champs, the two complemented Eden Hazard the whole night who was playing as a free-roaming central attacking midfielder.

The team looked cohesive throughout the match and the pair of Junior and Mendy was phenomenal. The way they moved around the field proved to be too overwhelming for Mallorca’s strategy. The two dictated the pace of the game and opened up multiple scoring opportunities for the club. This was evident during the 19th-minute mark where Junior was able to cruise through the Mallorca defense for the opening goal.

Given how tightly contested the La Liga season has been, Real Madrid would greatly benefit from the consistency of Mendy and Junior. One setback that Los Blancos would have to look out for is Mendy’s yellow card he incurred in his brilliant 90-minute performance. This will sit him out their matchup against Espanyol.

Despite this, the season is back right where it left off and continues to be a close fight between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. The past few days have featured a back and forth affair in the team standings between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The two clubs have constantly been exchanging positions as the first seed with Los Merengues currently on top with a record of 20 wins, eight draws and three losses.

It will be interesting to see how Real Madrid moves forward in the remaining games of the season. With players such as Mendy and Junior ready to step up for Zidane, the team is looking to finish the campaign on a strong note.
