L.A. Noire
The new versions of "L.A. Noire" arrives on Nov. 14. Rockstar Games

Rockstar Games has announced that its detective thriller, “L.A. Noire,” will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch on Nov. 14. The game will also feature its own virtual reality experience for the HTC Vive.

“Set against the seedy and violent underbelly of 1940’s Los Angeles, ‘L.A. Noire’ is the story of decorated veteran and newly minted detective Cole Phelps as he investigates an escalating series of cases inspired by real-world crimes. Each successfully solved case brings Phelps greater success, but also brings him closer to the dark criminal heart of post-war L.A.”

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of “L.A. Noire” will include the complete original game along with all of its previously released DLCs. Rockstar says that the game will include greater visual fidelity with enhanced lighting and new camera angles.

The PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game will also play natively in full HD 1080p and in 4K for the PlayStation 4 Pro and the Xbox One X. The PS4 Pro has been out for a while now, but the Xbox One X won’t be available until Nov. 7, which is just a week before the release of “L.A. Noire.”

Like the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game, the Nintendo Switch version will also include the complete campaign and all the additional downloadable content. Rockstar says that it has brought enhancements to the Switch version of “L.A. Noire,” including a Joy-Con mode where players will be able to use gesture-based controls.

The video game publisher also said that the Nintendo Switch version of “L.A. Noire” will also be compatible with the HD Rumble feature of the Joy-Con Controllers. Additionally, this version of the game will also have new wide and over-the-shoulder camera angles, as wells as contextual touch screen controls in portable mode.

Lastly, Rockstar is taking its first dip into the virtual reality gaming territory with "L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files” for the HTC Vive. “The VR Case Files” will include the seven original cases from “L.A. Noire.” The publisher says that it rebuilt those seven original cases specifically for VR.

The original “L.A. Noire" was first released back in 2011 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the PC. The game takes place in post World War II Los Angeles where detective Cole Phelps goes out and solve mysterious crimes, including the Black Dahlia murders. The game was both a critical and commercial success, according to Polygon.

It was originally developed by the Australian studio Team Bondi, which also closed down just a few months later after the game’s release. Rockstar Games didn’t say which studio made these new versions of “L.A. Noire,” as pointed out by GameSpot. Rockstar said that it will announce more details about the new versions of the game “in the weeks ahead,” and it has also updated the “L.A. Noire" website.
