The youngest member of a family of Palestinian immigrants, Lara Rahib moved to the United States at the age of one. As she grew up, she overcame periods of adversity and unemployment to eventually find remarkable success. From Lab to Ecom — The Steps in Between

Rahib started out working in a biology lab, only to find out that it didn't suit her to work under a boss.

"Dude, I just hated working there and was bored by being in the lab all day," she said. "I decided to halt my aspirations to gain a master's degree and find something else that would allow me to not have a boss."

Her next steps were to search for other jobs, eventually landing a position as debt collector for the Department of Education. There, a fellow coworker told Rahib about how much money they made in real estate. Wanting to be her own boss, Rahib wanted to learn more.

So, she got her license and became a real estate agent, building up her savings account in the process. This path finally led her to the ecommerce career she has today.

"Starting an ecom shop doesn't require thousands of dollars," Rahib explained. "But because I didn't have a mentorship like Ecom Wolfpack, having the dollars in my savings account to start my first online sales business made a difference. Nowadays, you don't need much to get going, especially with all the new technology and resources available. Getting a mentor would have saved me thousands of dollars in the beginning."

And so, Rahib began on Amazon before switching to her own website powered by Shopify to gain more control over her operation. (Amazon tends to change its rules for sellers and Rahib stayed true to herself, choosing to switch to a platform that did not try to control her so much.) It was a savvy decision, generating her $1M in her first three months.

The ambitious Ecom Wolf grew more and more successful. From retiring her parents and buying them a house to mentoring other people who wanted to learn about ecommerce and be their own bosses, Rahib realized that she loved helping out those around her.
