The Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday night’s lottery is the largest that it’s been in two years and the grand prize is $625 million.

This will be the U.S.’s eighth-largest jackpot in history. The pot has been increasing for months since there hasn’t been a grand-prize winner since September 2020.

The September 2020 grand prize was only $94 million.

The last drawing was Friday, Jan. 8, which brought out no winners. This grew the jackpot to $600 million, and Mega Millions officials increased the jackpot by $25 million Tuesday afternoon, according to ABC News.

Winners can either choose to receive their earnings in annuities paid out over 30 years, or they can choose to receive it in cash, which would be around $458.8 million in this case.

The odds of winning the grand prize are about one in 302.5 million, while winning some type of prize in the Mega Millions lottery, like the Match 5 or Match 5 + Multiplier, is about one in 24.

As for the Powerball drawings, which is the other popular lottery, it’ll take place on Wednesday, Jan. 13. The grand prize total has jumped to $550 million, with a cash prize of $411.4 million.

The drawing will take place at 11:00 p.m. ET.
