As hype builds for the highly anticipated release of “Assassin’s Creed III,” more information on the game is emerging every day. And the latest piece of marketing is a trailer focusing not on the series' assassins but on its often-unseen protagonist Desmond Miles.

While a great deal of the action in the “Assassin’s Creed” universe revolves around Ezio, Altair, Connor, and Aveline, much of it is also centered on Desmond, who is reliving their memories via a futuristic machine called the Animus.

The latest trailer for “Assassin’s Creed III” focuses on Desmond himself and promises that the game will delve just as heavily into his backstory as it will into that of Connor Kenway, an assassin during the American Revolutionary War.

“Assassin’s Creed III” lead writer Corey May said the latest installment of the series will tie up plenty of loose ends with Desmond’s story arc.

"I think people [who] have invested in the Desmond storyline will understand where the end of the game comes from,” May said in an interview with Shacknews. “We're tying up loose ends and providing answers and resolution to things. You're not going to get another tremendous insane-o cliffhanger."

And while May promises to give the fans plenty of big revelations in “Assassin’s Creed III,” he also wants them to know that the ending won’t be a cop-out, either. Everything in the game is logical and clearly thought out.

"There are twists in the story, but not in that regard. The ending should not come out of nowhere," May said. "For example, what will not happen, I promise you this: You will not wake up and find that you were in an Animus reliving the life of someone who was in an Animus. We are not doing that. It was not all just a dream."
