The NBA’s most controversial family made an appearance on the most recent edition of “Monday Night Raw.” LaVar Ball showed up, along with sons Lonzo Ball and LaMelo Ball at Staples Center in Los Angeles just days after the Lakers selected Lonzo with the No.2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

The Ball family was a part of a segment with Intercontinental Champion The Miz as guests on “Miz TV.” They even got their own theme music as they walked down towards the ring, and not surprisingly LaVar did most of the talking.

Even though The Miz is a heel, LaVar and LaMelo got a mixed reaction from the crowd. LaVar was booed at times, though he did get the crowd on his side for brief moments when he cracked a few jokes. Lonzo walked to the ring by himself, and he did get cheered, appearing in the building where he’ll be playing his home games for the next few seasons.

Unfortunately for the Ball Family, “Monday Night Raw” is live, and many fans took notice when LaMelo used a racial slur the one time he spoke into the mic, asking his father to beat up The Miz. Though it was difficult to notice on TV, social media certainly paid attention and began discussing what had just occurred.

WWE even released a statement after the show, via The Los Angeles Times, saying “The inappropriate language used by a guest during the ‘Miz TV’ segment was not scripted nor reflects WWE's values.”

All in all, the segment was kind of awkward, and it included LaVar running around the ring shirtless as he got into a confrontation with The Miz. None of the members of the Ball family attempted any wrestling moves, and “Miz TV” came to an end when Dean Ambrose grabbed a mic and got involved.

Ambrose and The Miz are feuding over the IC Title, and they are expected to have a match at the Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view on July 9. The two wrestlers have feuded for much of the past year.

WWE is no stranger to having celebrities in the ring, though this segment was mostly unlike anything the company has ever done. It had been reported over the weekend by Pro Wrestling Sheet that WWE wanted LaVar Ball to be a part of “Monday Night Raw,” since the show was going to take place in L.A.

There were rumors that LaVar would take part in a segment with Titus O’Neil since his character almost mirrors what LaVar has been doing in real life. O’Neil has gone from a wrestler to a heel manager with his “Titus Brand,” looking to turn WWE superstars like Apollo Crews and Akira Tozawa into worldwide stars.

LaVar has been in the headlines for months with his Big Baller Brand, selling expensive sneakers and other apparel. Big Baller Brand got plenty of free advertising Monday night, and Ambrose was even wearing a t-shirt with the company’s logo on it.
