Retired NBA player Scottie Pippen has opened up about his guest appearance in last night’s episode of “Lethal Weapon.”

In a recent interview with Chicago Tribune, Pippen said that playing opposite series stars Damon Wayans and Keesha Sharp in Season 2, episode 7 of the Fox series was a “challenge.” “It would be like me putting them on a basketball court — you don’t feel like you’re on their level and it shows a little bit,” the former Chicago Bulls star player said.

In the episode, Pippen appeared as Trish’s (Sharp) new friend, who Murtaugh (Wayans) was initially suspicious of. But the cop’s suspicions turned into excitement when he found out that his wife’s new buddy is none other than the basketball champion.

“I’m a speaker at this charity event and … [Trish] has me as a guest speaker, and I guess she’s making her husband jealous,” Pippen said of his role in the episode. “I guess [Murtaugh has] had enough — he wants to find out who this guest speaker is [that she keeps talking about] — and busts into the room.”

When Murtaugh entered the room, he found Trish helping Scottie with his tie. But instead of getting jealous, the father of three surprisingly had a fangirl moment. “It’s one of those moments where he walks in and I’m like his favorite player and he’s just in shock and happy,” Pippen said. “He gets so excited that he does a chest bump with me and cracks my lenses, my eyeglasses. So now, not only am I nervous about doing my speech, but now I don’t even have the glasses to be able to read it.”

Ahead of the airing of the episode, Pippen tweeted that he had a “great time” working with Wayans and Sharp. The onscreen husband and wife then replied that they, too, had a “blast” working with the basketball star. When Wayans asked if Pippen would consider doing another cameo on the show, Sharp supported the idea, suggesting that the athlete and the cop could play basketball in the Murtaughs’ driveway.
