  • Lisa Marie Presley's twin daughters will reportedly go to her ex-husband and the kids' dad, Michael Lockwood
  • The guitarist already had joint custody before the singer's passing earlier this month
  • The twins, Finley and Harper, have been staying with Lockwood since Presley died

Lisa Marie Presley's youngest children will be left under the care of her ex-husband and the kids' father, Michael Lockwood, following the singer's passing, according to reports.

On Saturday, unnamed sources connected to the family exclusively told TMZ that "the path is now clear" for the guitarist, 61, to get full custody of their twin daughters, Finley and Harper, 14. The two have reportedly been living with their dad since the only daughter of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley died at age 54 on Jan. 12.

The insiders said that the twins wanted to live with their dad and were comfortable with the new arrangement with him.

TMZ also claimed that there had been talks within the family about the twins' custody following Lisa Marie's demise. The late singer's other ex, Danny Keough, 58, was allegedly making a play for custody.

International Business Times could not independently verify the claims.

Lisa Marie and Keough were married from 1988 to 1994 and share two adult children, Benjamin and Riley. However, after Benjamin died by suicide two years ago, Keough moved back in with Lisa Marie to support the latter. He had been living at her home and helping raise the twins full-time since.

Despite this, Keough wouldn't be in a position to get custody of the twins under California law. On the other hand, Lockwood already had joint custody with Lisa Marie, and under California law, he would only have been denied full custody if there were findings of unfitness on his part, TMZ noted.

An unnamed source close to Lockwood also told Entertainment Tonight that, as of now, he has legal and physical custody of his daughters with Lisa Marie.

"He obtained full custody the moment Lisa Marie died. Michael will do whatever he has to do to protect it," the insider said. "There was no back and forth between Danny and Michael. Both the girls and Priscilla are enjoying their time together right now. They are spending all their time with Michael trying to keep it [as] normal as possible without their mother."

"Priscilla is doing everything she can for her grandchildren. She is there for those girls during this time," the source added. "Nobody wants bad blood right now. They don't want any more suffering. It is not about territory. Michael is handling it as best as he can. The girls are Michael's top priority. All everyone wants are smiles on the girls' faces."

Lockwood recently addressed his ex-wife's passing, telling ET that he and their daughters were reeling from Lisa Marie's shocking death. He also maintained that he would be the one to take care of their kids.

"We are all reeling from the sudden passing of Lisa Marie Presley, the mother of my two beautiful twin daughters Harper and Finley. Nothing prepares us for such an unexpected tragedy. It is incomprehensible," Lockwood said in a statement.

He continued, "The most important thing to me at this time is to take care of my daughters, making sure they always feel safe and loved. Both of them have incredible spirit and they will carry our family's legacy on for the rest of their lives. Since they were born, Harper and Finley have brought me profound joy, and I remain devoted to them. We ask for privacy at this incredibly difficult time."

Meanwhile, Keough's daughter, Riley, 33, recently broke her silence on her mom's death by sharing a throwback photo with the late singer on Instagram. She did not caption the post and only used a red heart emoji to express her emotion.
