‘Lucifer’
Will Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) follow Lucifer's (Tom Ellis) orders and send Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) to Heaven in “Lucifer” Season 2? FOX

The mystery surrounding the flaming sword has finally been addressed in “Lucifer” Season 2, episode 17.

In “Sympathy for the Goddess,” Lucifer (Tom Ellis) sought Amenadiel’s (D.B. Woodside) help in figuring out how to light the flaming sword. Earlier in the episode, Lucifer discovered that the buckle on God Johnson’s (Timothy Omundson) belt is the second missing piece of the sword. Towards the end of the episode, Lucifer and Amenadiel learned that the latter’s necklace is the third piece that will complete the mysterious object.

Now that Amenadiel’s necklace has been revealed as an integral part of the flaming sword, the character will have to make a tough decision with regards to his, Charlotte’s (Tricia Helfer), Lucifer and Maze’s (Lesley-Ann Brandt) fates. Previously, Charlotte expressed her desire to return to Heaven, especially since her time on Earth will soon expire.

Lucifer also wants his mom to return to Heaven, but it has been his goal to stay on Earth so he could be with Chloe (Lauren German). But Amenadiel and Maze are still undecided regarding where they want to go. The latter even had a feud with Lucifer after she confronted him about keeping things a secret from her. Maze was upset over the fact that Lucifer did not take her feelings into consideration when deciding what he thought was best for his mom.

Elsewhere in the episode, Lucifer had the chance to speak to a man who claimed to be his father. God Johnson told Lucifer things that the latter’s real father has never told him. Unfortunately, it was later on confirmed that God Johnson isn’t actually Lucifer’s dad. An emotional Lucifer told God Johnson that he became even more upset with his dad for never telling him that he’s proud of him.

Before leaving Los Angeles, God Johnson also got the chance to spend time with Charlotte. Even though the latter was still upset with her estranged husband, she also enjoyed spending time with him. When it was revealed that God Johnson wasn’t Charlotte’s real husband, the latter ran to Dan (Kevin Alejandro) for comfort. She told him that even though she’s mad at God, she still wanted God Johnson to be her real husband.

“Lucifer” Season 2 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on FOX.
