‘Lucifer’
Tom Ellis' Lucifer returned to FOX on Monday night with “Lucifer” Season 2, episode 14, but was welcomed with very low ratings. FOX

“Lucifer” went on a three-month hiatus before it returned to FOX with Season 2, episode 14 on Monday, May 1.

However, it was quite a surprise when TV Line reported that the ratings for the Tom Ellis-starrer did not impress. The episode only garnered a total of 3.4 million viewers among adults aged 18 to 49 or a 1.0 rating. This also marked the show’s second lowest audience and was 16 percent down from Season 2, episode 13 that aired in January.

Despite the Monday night’s low viewership turnout, there’s still hope for “Lucifer” Season 2 to improve its ratings. More exciting storylines will be part of episodes 15 to 18.

On the May 8 episode, showrunner Joe Henderson said that they will focus on Lucifer and Trixie’s (Scarlett Estevez) relationship. Chloe (Lauren German) and Maze’s (Lesley Ann-Brandt) friendship will also take center stage.

Meanwhile, “Lucifer” Season 2, episode 16 will introduce Timothy Omundson’s character, God Johnson. Talking about the upcoming installment, Henderson shared, “He claims to be God, and Lucifer doesn’t quite believe him. But as they go on, he starts to realize, ‘Maybe this is my dad, and if so, what do I do about that?’” he said.

Henderson also confirmed that God Johnson will soon reunite with his ex-wife, Charlotte (Tricia Helfer). The EP said that Omundson and Helfer have incredible onscreen chemistry, so fans can surely look forward to their interactions.

Meanwhile, Henderson also opened up about the highly-anticipated finale episode for “Lucifer” Season 2. In episode 18, the series will showcase what will look like mismatched pairings between Chloe and Charlotte and Dan (Kevin Alejandro) and Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside). The two pairs did not have many scenes together throughout Season 2. “Intentionally, they’ve been barely together every episode,” he said.

In episode 17, Maze’s major arc will be unveiled. “She’s been on the outside of a lot of what Lucifer’s been doing this entire season, and in particular these last few episodes, so when she finds out what he’s up to, she’s pissed,” he told TV Line.

Unfortunately, Henderson did not give any clues on what Lucifer will be doing in the upcoming episodes. But in “Lucifer” Season 2, episode 14, titled “Candy Morningstar,” the lead character expressed his desire to take down his mom. Unfortunately, Lucifer’s plans may change since Charlotte already told him some information about how they could all return to Hell. In the past, Lucifer told Charlotte that he just wants to stay on Earth and be with his new family. However, Charlotte is bound to give Lucifer an offer he won’t be able to refuse.

In the end, it’s possible that Lucifer will still stick around on Earth. After all, this is where Chloe is. The two just reunited in episode 14 after Lucifer disappeared on Chloe for two weeks following her near-death experience. When he resurfaced, Lucifer acted as though nothing happened, and he informed Chloe that he’s married to a woman named Candy (Lindsey Gort). Unfortunately, Chloe still has no idea that Lucifer married Candy as part of his plan to get back at Charlotte.

“Lucifer” Season 2 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on FOX.
