Maddie Ziegler’s big screen debut is quickly approaching. The “Dance Moms” alum’s first feature film has an official release date. According to media reports, “The Book of Henry” will premiere in theaters this fall.

Directed by Colin Trevorrow of “Jurassic World” fame, the drama will open Sept. 16 with a wide release planned Sept. 30, Deadline reported. The movie’s premiere will come a year after the cast, including “Room” star Jacob Tremblay and Oscar nominee Naomi Watts, was photographed shooting scenes in New York.

“The Book of Henry” follows single mother of two Susan (Watts) whose son Henry (Jaeden Lieberher) devises a plan to save his dream girl and neighbor Christina (Ziegler) after he finds out she is being mistreated by her father. Appropriately enough, Ziegler’s character is a dancer, as teased by one of Trevorrow’s tweets about the film. Other notable stars of the movie include Sarah Silverman, Lee Pace and Dean Norris.

While Trevorrow was able to rake in more than $208 million domestically during the opening weekend of “Jurassic World” in 2015, his latest project will have some serious competition. “The Book of Henry” is just one of several films set to open Sept. 30. The much-buzzed-about “The Edge of Seventeen,” starring Hailee Steinfeld, will also premiere then, along with the Mark Wahlberg vehicle “Deepwater Horizon,” the Kristen Wiig bank heist comedy “Masterminds” and Tim Burton’s “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.”

Ziegler’s role in “The Book of Henry” is far from her last engagement. While she left “Dance Moms” in pursuit of other projects after the Lifetime series’ Season 6 finale last month, the 13-year-old performer isn’t leaving her reality-TV roots behind. This season of Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” will see Ziegler as the show’s youngest judge to date. She will rate the show’s junior dancers for the “Next Generation” edition alongside fellow leads Paula Abdul, Jason Derulo and Nigel Lythgoe. The series premiered May 30 and is slotted on Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT. Check out a sneak peek of Ziegler on “SYTYCD” below.
