Mahlon Reyes Cause Of Death: 'Deadliest Catch' Star Dead At 38

"Deadliest Catch" star Mahlon Reyes died at the age of 38, his wife confirmed the news to TMZ. Reyes, who appeared as a deckhand on one of the crab fishing boats in the Discovery Channel series, suffered a heart attack on July 25.

According to his wife, Reyes initially survived and was rushed to hospital but he never regained consciousness. Reyes' wife said that they decided to take him off of life support on Sunday and he was surrounded by loved ones at the time.

Reyes' family were shocked by the massive heart attack as he had no pre-existing health conditions that they were aware of. The Flathead County Sheriff's Office reportedly said that while his wife says that Reyes suffered a heart attack, an official cause of death will be determined after an autopsy and toxicology results.

Long-running reality series "Deadliest Catch" began in 2005, and follows fishermen aboard fishing vessels in the Bering Sea. This takes part during the Alaskan king crab and snow crab fishing seasons. Some of Reyes' ashes will be placed in the Bering Sea by his fellow members, his wife told TMZ.

Reyes, who last appeared in the series in 2015, is survived by his wife and four children.

According to PopCulture, Reyes was working to make his way back to Alaska for another crabbing season after 2015. He had worked on two "Deadliest Catch" boats, the Seabrooke and Cape Caution. He also once worked on the fishing team led by Captain "Wild" Bill Wichrowski.
