  • Sony President Jim Ryan earlier said that the company has not yet revealed all the major features of the PS5
  • A Sony document was recently spotted online revealing a potential PS5 feature that could improve the way gamers play the game
  • The document reveals a technology that could allow players to improve their gaming styles and enjoy their favorite games in a more efficient way

Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan earlier confirmed that although they have already revealed some details about the PS5, they have not yet announced its major features. If the recent report is accurate, it looks like this could be another major feature that fans should look forward to from the PS5. The said feature was recently spotted on a document filed by Sony.

In 2018, Sony Interactive Entertainment submitted a patent at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a technology dubbed as an in-game information platform. Based on the patent filing, the technology would communicate in-game data with outside sources. As a result, players could know the length of time a particular section of the game would take and how to pass them more efficiently.

The patent also reveals that technology could help players determine how playtime could affect activities in the real world. The Sony document defines the in-game information platform as a “durational information platform, which can tell players approximately how long an objective in a game will take, as well as steps they could take to shorten it. The platform could also sync with outside information to tell players how long they had before a real-world priority would intervene.”

It is worth noting, however, that details about this potential PS5 major feature are based on a patent filing. In other words, there is a chance that Sony might or might not introduce this technology in its next generation gaming console. Big tech companies like Sony have a habit of filing patents, but most of the time, these patents either end of in production or remain as patents.

In other PS5 news, Sony has not yet officially announced if it is holding the much-awaited full PS5 reveal. Microsoft already unveiled the Xbox Series X last year at The Game Awards and even held another event last week for its next generation gaming console. So far, Sony has revealed the official name of its upcoming gaming console and its logo.

The PS5 is slated to arrive sometime in the holiday of 2020. So far, Sony Interactive Entertainment has not yet revealed the price point of the PS5, but many analysts believe that it might retail at $500.
