Malia Obama was slammed by social media users for skipping the historic speeches at the Democratic National Convention Thursday night, and attending the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago instead. The 18-year-old high school graduate was spotted partying with her friends at the event.

Barack and Michelle Obama's eldest daughter was pictured at a Cashmere Cat concert as she danced to the Norwegian artist’s electronic beats. After the photos and videos of Malia surfaced online, social media users took shots at her for giving priority to fun.

"Pretty hilarious that Malia Obama would rather party at #Lolla2016 then be at the DNC supporting women’s history being made," one Twitter user wrote. Another said: "Not even Malia Obama can stand Hillary Clinton."

Some also criticized Barack Obama for having little interest in the Democratic presidential nominee, saying, “I’m sure Malia Obama will go to the DNC when her mother runs.” Another user said that Malia didn’t attend the DNC because “it’s not like her dad is running for President again.”

While many users slammed Malia, many others came to her defense.
