  • Some came to Mama June’s defense, saying she doesn’t deserve the hate

Mama June Shannon was criticized when she showed off her body on social media while promoting a weight loss product.

The 42-year-old “Mama June: Road to Redemption” star got back to promoting Boombod’s weight loss shot drink this week as she gave her fans an update on her body transformation amid her weight loss journey.

She posted two photos on Instagram in which she sports a black tank top with spaghetti straps. In both snaps, she flashed a big smile while holding a box of the product in one hand and a glass with the prepared drink in the other.

Also visible in the photos were her rings, including the one rumored to be her engagement band from her boyfriend, Justin Stroud. Last month, the couple made headlines when they were spotted ring shopping in the Auburn Mall in Alabama.

“@boombod shots are back. Cravings are out ‘cause bikini season is coming ladies! These shots help with hitting those goals and crushing cravings,” she wrote in the caption.

Unfortunately for Mama June, she did not get the response she may have been hoping for. A number of followers and Instagram users slammed her for covering her belly in the second photo and continuously promoting the controversial product despite not seeing the promised results.

“I’ve [yet] to see anyone lose weight with this stuff. Y’all need to try something else ’cause obviously, this isn’t working,” one wrote.

“Why would you advertise these when clearly they're not helping you so who would want to buy them?” another asked Mama June in the comments.

“Did she just pull her pants down in the first and then pull them in the second to look like these shots made her lose weight?” a third user commented, pointing out how the reality star tried to make it seem like her stomach was slimmer in the second photo after using the weight loss drink.

On the other hand, some fans came to the Shannon matriarch’s defense. They responded to the criticisms and encouraged the bashers to leave Mama June alone.

“Can’t [you] see? June is doing it for the money! I don’t think she cares whether it works or not. If she’s happy, that’s all that matters,” one fan commented.

“Wowwww, these comments suck! Y’all do know she’s a real person with real feelings, right?? Smhhh… y’all are miserable. [Mama June], we love you,” another user added.

“I don’t think it’s working, but I am glad you’re looking happy in these pics,” a different fan wrote.

Mama June has been promoting the weight loss drink for months, and she’s been getting mixed responses every time she makes an update about her weight loss.

In January, she did the seven-day challenge with Boombod, and she received mostly negative remarks from the netizens. However, a few claimed that the “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” alum lost a bit of weight, so they complimented her.

Aside from Mama June, her youngest daughter, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, also got slammed online after sharing her new diet. The 16-year-old recently revealed on her Instagram that Real Good Foods has been “amazing” in helping her achieve her weight goal.

“That’s not good for you… it’s processed food,” one follower pointed out to the former “Toddlers & Tiaras” star.

“Microwave processed food is not healthy at all. Don’t forget, [it’s] high in sodium,” another added.

Fans will get to see more of Mama June and Honey Boo Boo when their family’s reality show, “Mama June: Road to Redemption,” returns with an all-new season on May 13.
