  • Mama June reacted to her youngest daughter Alana’s weight loss surgery plans
  • The controversial matriarch said Alana should wait until she’s 18 to get the surgery
  • Mama June was disappointed that Pumpkin did not tell her about Alana’s medical plans

Mama June Shannon spoke her mind about her youngest daughter Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson’s plan to go under the knife next month to lose weight.

The 42-year-old reality star, who lost custody of her 16-year-old daughter last month, exclusively revealed to TMZ Wednesday that she does not approve of Alana getting weight loss surgery next month.

As previously reported, Honey Boo Boo has made plans to get a $13,000 suture sculpt endoscopic sleeve from weight loss doctor Steven Batash for her 17th birthday in August. The former “Toddlers & Tiaras” star was reportedly looking to drop her weight from 275 pounds to 150 through the surgery.

“I’m supportive if this is something Alana wants to get, but I would say she needs to wait until she’s 18 years old,” Mama June said, adding that Alana did not tell her about it before deciding to go through with the medical procedure.

As someone who had weight loss surgery before, Mama June cautioned that this is not something Alana should just jump into. She then noted that she would encourage Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, who now has custody of Alana, to tell the teen to wait.

“It kind of bothers me that Pumpkin didn’t tell me. If Alana wants to do it, she should wait to sign her own paperwork at 18,” Mama June added.

The Shannon matriarch claimed that money could have been a factor in Honey Boo Boo’s seemingly rushed decision to lose weight, implying that her daughter might be filming her makeover for reality TV.

However, unnamed sources close to the former “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star assured TMZ that she was doing the weight loss surgery privately and not for TV ratings.

Honey Boo Boo is set to have the surgery with her 21-year-old boyfriend, Dralin Carswell. The two have been dating since mid-2021, and they decided to lose weight together with the help of the medical procedure.

Last month, Alana and Dralin sparked engagement rumors after Mama June’s youngest daughter was spotted wearing a new sparkler on her left ring finger. A spokesperson for the teen star quickly shut down the speculations, saying the accessory was “just a ring” and not an engagement band.
