  • Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson will undergo a suture sculpt endoscopic sleeve next month
  • The 16-year-old will get the weight-loss procedure alongside her boyfriend Dralin Carswell
  • Thompson is reportedly worried that the weight she's put on is genetic

Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson is going under the knife after her 17th birthday to live a healthier life.

The 16-year-old reality star will head to Queens, New York City, in late August to undergo weight-loss surgery, her manager Gina Rodriguez confirmed to TMZ.

The "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" alum, who turns 17 on Aug. 28, will get a suture sculpt endoscopic sleeve from weight loss doctor Steven Batash, which can cost about $13,000, according to the outlet.

Thompson reportedly currently weighs 275 pounds and is looking to drop to 150.

She reportedly decided to push through with the surgery because she wants to live a healthier life, and dieting and increasing her workout didn't give her the results she had hoped for.

The "Dancing with the Stars: Juniors" alum is reportedly worried that the weight she's put on is genetic and sees the procedure as the only solution to getting rid of the extra pounds.

Her sister and guardian Lauryn "Pumpkin" Thompson, 22, and Thompson's boyfriend Dralin Carswell are both supportive of her decision to undergo the procedure, according to TMZ.

The "Toddlers and Tiaras" alum will be going under the knife alongside her boyfriend as the couple wants to do it together, the report said.

Thompson and Carswell have been dating since mid-2021 but didn't go public with their relationship until September last year.

Last month, Thompson sparked engagement rumors after she was spotted with a diamond sparkler on her left ring finger in photos published by Page Six following the birth of her older sister's twins.

But a spokesperson for Thompson immediately shut down the engagement rumors, telling Page Six that the accessory was "just a ring."

Thompson's family is supportive of her romance with Carswell. Her mother Mama June Shannon previously spoke about their relationship and explained why her youngest daughter doesn't post much about her boyfriend on social media.

"[Alana] is getting a lot of hate because she's in an interracial relationship, he is older," Shannon said in an interview with TooFab in May. "But at the end of the day, Alana's not that 6-, 7-year-old child y'all fell in love with 11 years ago."

In another interview with E! News, Shannon also said that her teenage daughter "gets a lot of hate" for wearing long lashes and long nails and being in an interracial relationship. In order to keep her peace of mind and "avoid the negativity," Thompson doesn't put everything out online, according to her mother.
