A man was in judicial custody after he tortured and killed a dog following an argument with the canine's owner. The incident took place in the western Indian state of Maharastra on Monday.

Police said the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Repin Sabur SK, had a heated argument with the woman, a 32-year-old hotel owner named Prajakta Kunal Singh. In order to take revenge against her, the man beat up the dog she looked after.

"The complainant and other nearby hotel owners would feed leftover food to street dogs. On Monday, the complainant noticed one of the dogs missing. She later found out that Repin, who was angry with her, thrashed one of the dogs, brutally injuring his private parts. The dog was taken to a veterinary hospital but succumbed to his injuries the next day. Based on this, we filed a case and arrested the suspect," police said.

Repin was charged under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. He appeared in court Wednesday and was remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

In a similar incident in April, a man from New Mexico was charged with animal cruelty after he intentionally ran over a dog following an argument with the canine's owner. Police said Douglas Arnold Smith and another woman got into an argument with the dog's owner. Following this Smith and the woman got into a car and ran over the dog. The dog was rushed to a nearby animal hospital where it succumbed to injuries. Witnesses said they heard someone scream “Kill the dog!” before the vehicle hit the canine.

In another incident in April, a man from Florida stabbed his family dog following an argument with his father. Robert Abbott Jr. picked up a knife and stabbed his family dog several times during a "verbal argument" with his father. He was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. Meanwhile, the dog suffered serious injuries.
