A man strangled and choked his girlfriend after getting into a fight about the music they were listening to while drinking amid the COVID-19 lockdown. According to the Sun, Christopher Gordon, of Manchester, was taken into custody and admitted assaulting his girlfriend and damaging a picture frame and ornaments in Cleethorpes.

The 35-year-old repeatedly punched his girlfriend and slapped her before grabbing her around the throat, Grimsby Magistrates' Court heard.

The victim said that the two were listening to music when Gordon became aggressive and attacked her. When he slapped her, she punched him to the stomach. He then grabbed her and threw her on the floor, causing her to bang her head. He then grabbed her throat and squeezed hard so that she could not breathe properly.

Gordon broke ornaments after sweeping them on to the floor and left the premises but was later arrested. He told police: "She assaulted me."

The accused in the case has had previous run-ins with law enforcement. Last year, he was jailed at Grimsby Crown Court for eight months for possessing an offensive weapon and a public order matter. He had been released from prison only about two weeks before the incidents.
