A man was dangling from Trump Tower in Chicago by a rope for 13 hours, threatening to jump if he did not speak to President Trump and the media.

The man said in a video that he did not want to die and is “not crazy,” identifying himself as a member of the Black Lives Matter movement. Reports on Monday morning said the man had been returned to safety with the assistance of authorities.

The man appeared to be in his 20s and of Asian descent. In his video, he praised Chicago residents and Chicago medical workers. He stated that he would come back onto the roof if he could speak to President Trump and the media before the election.

“Everyone who knows me,” he said, “They know I’m not crazy. I’m not crazy, I’m a well-educated guy. But if Mr. Trump thinks I am crazy and will not talk to me, I will cut it and die. It will be your responsibility.”

Chicago police blocked roads beneath the man and had a negotiator on the roof trying to convince the man to come back to safety, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. In the video and reports from police, the man appeared to be wearing a climbing harness.
