A man in India fell to death along with the dead body of his friend, while disposing of the corpse after allegedly murdering him.

The bizarre incident happened at Amboli Ghat, a hill station in the western state of Maharashtra. The friend, who helped the man in dumping the corpse from the hill slope, narrowly escaped death, the police said.

The man, who fell to death, was identified as Bhauso Mane from the city of Satara. He had allegedly killed his friend, 30-year-old Sushant Khillare, with the help of Tushar Pawar on Sunday. The alleged murder happened following a dispute over money, The Times of India reported.

"Mane and Pawar traveled 400 km (around 250 miles) to Amboli ghat in a car to dump Khillare's body there. At the ghat, however, Mane lost his balance, and fell down with the body, and died. Shocked, Pawar then drove to a nearby temple, called up his family, and confessed," a police source told the outlet.

The cops were alerted after the local community found one of the bodies Tuesday. After searching the area thoroughly, the police found the two dead bodies that were around 10 feet from each other, news outlet Latest LY reported.

Meanwhile, investigators have registered an accidental death case in connection with Mane's death. The officials have sent the bodies for an autopsy.

However, it is unclear if Pawar would face charges in connection with Khillare's murder.

Investigators said they had installed CCTVs across the area after it became a "favorable spot" for people to dump bodies. There were reports of two more bodies dumped in the area in the past three years.

In a similar incident last year, a South Carolina man who killed his girlfriend died of a heart attack, while he was burying the woman's body in the backyard of his house. The police found the body of Joseph McKinnon, 60, inside his home in Trento, while the body of his girlfriend, 65-year-old Patricia Dent, was found in a freshly dug pit in the yard. An autopsy revealed Dent died by strangulation, while McKinnon died of a heart attack.
