A video that is going viral on the internet shows a man risking his life to rescue a toddler girl who is seen hanging from the window on the 8th floor of a building.

The incident was reported in Kazakhstan's capital Nur-Sultan on Wednesday. The man, identified as Shontakbaev Sabit, sprang into action after witnessing the child's ordeal.

The 3-year-old girl had used cushions and toys to climb out of the window when her mother was out shopping. The child then ended up hanging from the window ledge, NDTV reported. Sabit, who was reportedly on his way to work saw a crowd gathered beneath the building. After realizing what was happening, he raced to save the girl from pummelling from a height of almost 100 feet.

In the video, captured by an onlooker, Sabit is seen climbing out of the window without any safety gear such as a harness or a helmet. Take a look below:

The video shows Sabit wiggling out of an open window just one story below where the girl was clinging for dear life. As he gets closer, Sabit is seen reaching out for the child as she lets go of her grip. The heroic man immediately catches her and lowers her into the open window below, where another person pulls her inside to safety.

The country’s Department of Emergency Situations wrote on social media that the first responders were alerted of the child in danger at around 10:20 a.m. local time. "Nur-Sultan DES units consisting of 7 personnel and 2 units of equipment were sent to the scene. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a man rescued a child hanging from the cornice of the balcony on the eighth floor," the department wrote in a post on Instagram.

While Sabit was brave enough to risk his life to save the kid, situations like these could turn out differently, the post caption said and urged parents to not leave their children unattended.

Sabit was awarded a badge "For Courage In Emergency Situations," by Kazakhstan's first Vice-Minister of Emergency Situations, according to NDTV. A father of four himself, the man said he does not consider himself a hero, reported The Indian Express citing local media.
